Exterior Door Unlocks for Events

  • Following action by the Health Sciences Board of Deans in September 2021, only events approved through the Use of University Facilities process are permitted up to two unlocked exterior doors 30 minutes before and after their start time.
  • Exterior door scheduling for non-UW events in Magnuson Health Sciences, Foege, Health Sciences Education Building, and South Campus Center buildings is performed by HS Building Management once weekly on Wednesdays. Confirmations are sent to event coordinators on the Wednesday prior to their event.
  • A list of events in spaces reserved by Classroom Services is provided weekly to Building Management.  If you have a UUFC-approved event in a non-Classroom Services space, send your unlock request to hsbuild@uw.edu.
  • Map of doors that may be unlocked for events.

Other Access and Door Information

  • UW Facilities CAAMS (Campus Automated Access Management System) provides a computer application for access control on the UW Seattle campus. Building Management provides local management of CAAMS doors for Magnuson Health Sciences, the Foege Building, ARCF, Health Sciences Education Building, and South Campus Center.
  • Building perimeter doors are defined as exterior doors and hallway security doors (such as those between Magnuson Health Sciences and UW Medical Center).
  • Some departments use badge readers to control entry into sensitive internal areas. Personnel needing access to these areas should contact their department Building Access Coordinator, who can request that HS Building Management add the access.
  • CAAMS doors should not be opened with a key. They are alarmed and may require UW Police response.
